Biography

Sofía Centurión is a young Uruguayan artist born on April 23, 2004 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Drawing, painting and sculpture are the languages ​​that are part of his pictorial work,

A work that, in addition to being autobiographical, can be distinguished by its
eclectic, reflecting the artist’s interest in discovering new tools that
allow us to reach results that are more closely coupled with the concept behind each work.

“"I view my artistic practice as a constant introspective exercise, where the main reflection lies in
my condition as a human being.
In this exploration, I intend to identify and expel the idealization within my work, in a world where it seems necessary to pretend, appear, or simulate.
Faced with this, my work and my process cling to what I consider “real”, therefore, in a certain
way, it exposes my most intimate reflections.
On the other hand, I understand that exploring the material I’m working with, is a fundamental
part of my work, although it is a highly explored field, its investigation can be infinite, while in the process I introduce my concerns.
Every time I sit to paint, sculpt or create I find it as an opportunity to learn, and to fight.
I seek through art to know my environment, but also to understand myself, understand the world, and perceive it deeply, in a way that is only possible through art and creation."”
